Dr.Lachal has been practising medicine for more than 15 years. She graduated in 1994 from Melbourne University with honours and became a fellow of the College of Physicians in 2002. She did basic physician training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital with advanced gastroenterology training at the Royal Melbourne and Western Hospital.
